A young man from Madaripur has gone missing from Libya on his way to Italy illegally. His family has not been able to find him for 19 days. Earlier, 22 million taka was taken for his release from a prison in Libya. Relatives held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon seeking to find the missing youth and demanding justice for the broker.
The name of the missing youth is Alvi Khan (24). He is the elder son of Emdad Hossain Khan of Kuntipara village of Ghatmazhi union of Sadar upazila.

According to the family of the missing youth and local sources, Alvi decided to go abroad after his high school studies. He decided to go to Italy after being lured by Ratul Howladar, a broker from Dhulgram area of neighboring Dasar upazila. The broker circle made an agreement to deliver Alvi to Italy for 21 lakh taka.
Later, according to the agreement, Alvir’s family paid one-third of the money on October 15, 2025. Four days later, on October 19, Alvi was flown to Saudi Arabia by members of the Dalal gang. Later, Bangladeshi brokers living in Libya took him to a detention center in Libya. The first three months were held in Libya without torture, but the full amount of the contract was collected by tactics. Four months after taking the money, Alvi was tortured and demanded ransom from the family by sending an audio voice. Alvir’s family was forced to pay Tk 22 lakh ransom through various banks on November 4. Later, when more ransom was demanded, his family refused.

After that, Alvi’s father Emdad Hossain filed a case under the Suppression of Human Trafficking Act at the Sadar Model Police Station on April 19 in the name of six persons including the accused Ratul. Later, Ratul was arrested in a police operation, but no trace of Alvi can be found.
Alvir’s family held a press conference at home to demand justice for the culprits along with the search for their son. Alveer’s mother Marina Begum said, ‘My son was only sending voice messages last time. Then he said, “Mom, tell your father to give you the money, if they don’t give you the money, Myra will kill you.” I gave 22 lakh taka to broker Ratul for my son’s release. Earlier took 21 lakh taka. But they did not send my son to Italy. I can’t find my son for 19 days, I just want to find my son.’
Alvi’s father Emdad Hossain said, “I have not heard from my son for 19 days. What are brokers doing? I will not look strange anymore. I don’t want money. I just want my son back.
On investigation, it is known that local broker Ratul Howladar (28) is the son of Sarwar Howladar of Dhulgram, Baligram Union of Dasar Upazila. He has been involved in human trafficking for a long time. The gang first gained notoriety by transporting hundreds of youths from Dasar and Sadar upazilas to Italy by boat from the coast of Libya across the Mediterranean Sea. Later, they lured young people from different areas and kept them in detention in Libya and collected ransom money from Bangladesh.
Currently, Ratul is in Madaripur jail. In this regard, his father Sarwar Howladar said that he is also accused in the same case with his son. The missing Alvi was held by his son Ratul and did not collect the money. Ratul works as an agency in various countries. No wrongdoing or illegal act is done by nightul.
When asked about this, Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said that the main accused Ratul Howladar has been arrested in the case of the torture of a young man named Alvi in Libya. Operation is on to nab the other accused. At the same time, the police are working to confirm the search for Alvi.
