The husband is in jail after seeking bail in the court

Five accused, including her husband Mehdi Hasan, appeared before the court and applied for bail in the case related to the death of university student Jannatun Naeem in Comilla. After the hearing, the court sent Mehdi Hasan to jail. The court granted bail to the other four accused.
Five accused in the case appeared in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Mominul Haque of Comilla No. 1 Amli Court on Sunday afternoon and applied for bail. After the hearing, the court denied bail to the main accused Mehedi Hasan and ordered him to be sent to prison. On the other hand, Mehdi’s father Abdur Rahim, mother Afroza Begum, Nanad Reema Akhtar and her husband Zakaria were granted bail.

Tafseerul Alam, the plaintiff’s lawyer, confirmed the matter and said that Jannatun Naeem’s father is a school teacher in Kandal village of Daulkhand union in Nangalkot upazila. Hanif filed a case of incitement to suicide at Kotwali Model Police Station last Wednesday night. The accused were absconding since the incident. Appearing in court today, the judge ordered Jannatun’s husband Mehdi to be sent to jail.
Earlier on Tuesday night, the police recovered the body of Jannatun Naeem from his in-law’s flat in Kashem Garden, Manoharpur Munsefbari area of Comilla Nagar. Jannatun’s husband Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Meghna Upazila, ran away from the area after the incident.

Jannatun Naeem was a 12th batch sixth semester student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of CCN University of Science and Technology, Comilla. His village home is in Kandal village of Nangalkot upazila.
It is mentioned in the statement of the case that Jannatun Naeem got married to Mehdi on September 8 last year. After the marriage, she was demanded a dowry of five lakh rupees. Jannatun was subjected to physical and mental torture for not being able to pay the money.
Plaintiff Jannatun Naeem’s father. Hanif said, ‘My daughter cannot commit suicide. An attempt was made to commit suicide by killing him and hanging him from the ceiling fan. If Mehdi is remanded, the real mystery of the incident will come out. I wanted to file a murder case. My daughter had bruises on various places including her legs. Later, the police said that the case of abetment to suicide will be converted into a case of murder if the post-mortem report reveals murder. After that a case of abetment to suicide was taken from me.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station of Comilla Touhidul Anwar said that the main accused Mehedi will be remanded and an application will be made to the court soon for interrogation. Apart from this, the actual cause of death will be known if the autopsy report is available.
