The dead bodies of a couple and their two children were recovered from their house in Niamatpur, Naogaon. The police recovered their bodies from a house in Bahadurpur village of the upazila around 8 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday.

The deceased are Habibur Rahman (35) of Bahadurpur village, his wife Popi Khatun (30) and their son Parvez Hossain (10) and daughter Sadia Khatun (3). Niamatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman confirmed their names.

Among the victims, Habibur and his wife were killed by slitting their throats. Their children Parvez and Sadia were killed by head injuries. Parvez Bahadur was studying in class V in Government Primary School.

According to police and local sources, Habibur Rahman was a cattle trader by profession. Mandar sold cows at Chaubaria market and came home at around 8 pm yesterday. He had 2 lakh 80 thousand rupees for selling cows. It is believed that miscreants killed him and his family members to loot money. Apart from this, the gold ornaments in the house were also looted.

OC Habibur Rahman said that the owner of the house Habibur and his wife were killed by slitting their throats. Their children were killed by hitting their heads. Initially, it is believed that the miscreants entered the house to commit a robbery. Fearing that the identity would be revealed, the head of the house and other family members were killed.
