The bus bound for Cox’s Bazar from Sylhet stopped at Chittagong, passengers suffered

A Hanif Paribahan bus was going to Cox’s Bazar with 30 passengers from Sylhet. The bus reached Sitakunda in Chittagong after about 13 hours. Then the engine of the bus stopped on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway as the oil ran out. As a result, the passengers have to suffer while going to the destination.
The engine of the bus stopped at Banur Bazar area of Bhatiari Union of Sitakunda Upazila at around seven in the morning on Wednesday. Earlier, the bus left Sylhet on Tuesday evening.
Around eight o’clock this morning, it can be seen on the ground that the bus is stopped on the highway. Some of the passengers are sitting in the closed bus. Some are standing on the road trying to board another vehicle. The passengers said that the assistant of the bus driver was going around the filling station with a bucket to get fuel. However, even after an hour, no provision of fuel could be made for the bus.
One of the passengers of the bus is Obaidur Rahman. He said that he boarded the bus from Sylhet to go to Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. The bus started at six o’clock yesterday evening. Then after going to some filling stations and waiting in line, the bus got fuel. Oil is given in 10 liters to 20 liters. The driver also paid extra money at two filling stations to get more than 10 liters of oil. However, the engine of the bus stopped as it ran out of fuel.
Another passenger of the bus, Mobarak Hossain, told Prothom Alo, “I am supposed to participate in a professional training at Cox’s Bazar at 9 am.” But it was eight o’clock in Sitakunda. I don’t know whether I will be able to participate in the training.
Bus driver Osman Gani told Prothom Alo that his bus takes 160 liters of fuel to go from Sylhet to Cox’s Bazar. He started the journey with 70 liters of oil. Tried to get fuel at many filling stations on the way. A little oil was found in three. Did not get oil after long wait at other filling stations. So the bus engine is done. He will need at least 60 liters of fuel to go from Sitakunda to Cox’s Bazar.
Osman Gani said, “Some passengers are supposed to land in Chittagong. I am giving some of those passengers to the local car with some money. I will pick up the rest of the passengers in another vehicle of our company. There is no other way. Trying for oil.’
