State Minister Bobby Hajjaj Warns Against Irregularities in School Feeding Program

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has issued a stern warning against any negligence or irregularities concerning the quality of food provided under the government’s school feeding program. Speaking at an orientation and quality improvement meeting in Sunamganj on Monday, Hajjaj emphasized that the administration would maintain zero tolerance for substandard meals, urging teachers, parents, and local officials to remain vigilant and report any lapses immediately.
Addressing the assembly at the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) auditorium, Hajjaj noted that while significant strides are being made in primary education, these achievements are often overshadowed by negative perceptions. He called upon educators to actively combat this by engaging local communities and establishing a “friend register,” a platform intended to involve community members in providing feedback and support for school development. The minister stressed that highlighting positive progress is essential to improving the public image of the education sector.

Hajjaj underscored that the government, guided by Prime Minister Tareque Rahman’s vision, is committed to elevating the status of the teaching profession. He confirmed that efforts are underway to refine policies regarding teacher compensation and professional standing, noting that improved status must be matched by a heightened sense of responsibility among educators. He added that systemic success depends on a collaborative effort between the state and those on the front lines of the classroom.
The state minister also highlighted the specific challenges facing the flood-prone haor region, where a pilot school feeding project currently covers nearly half of all local primary schools. Officials are now exploring strategies to boost student attendance during the monsoon season, alongside a renewed focus on infrastructure development.

The event, presided over by Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Minhajur Rahman, featured addresses from local parliamentarian Nurul Islam, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Md. Abdur Rahim, and various district officials. Prior to the meeting, the state minister interacted with students and inspected their artwork before visiting three primary schools in Tahirpur upazila.
