Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said, drugs have now become a serious social disease; Which is seriously misleading the youth of the country. Illegal human trafficking has also increased. A special operation will be launched soon to eliminate human trafficking and drug trafficking in dangerous areas of the country including Teknaf-Ukhia coast of Cox’s Bazar. The government is in a strict position in this regard.
The Home Minister said this while addressing the Chief Guest at the Farmer Card distribution ceremony at Ezahar Girls Government High School grounds in Teknaf on Tuesday afternoon. At the beginning of the program, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman inaugurated the Farmer Card distribution program through video conference.
Mentioning that farmers are the backbone of the country’s economy, Salahuddin Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chakaria-Pekua) constituency, said that the government has taken a historic initiative for their development by distributing farmer cards. BNP has fulfilled the promise given to the people before the ink of the vote was dry. BNP does what it says.
Apart from the anti-drug stance, expressing concern over the spread of online gambling, the Home Minister said that online gambling has spread at an alarming rate, which is having a negative impact on the society. The government has already started a research program to stop these illegal activities; So that realistic and sustainable solutions can be found.
Urging everyone to come forward to stop human trafficking, the Home Minister said that some areas of Teknaf, Ukhia and Cox’s Bazar have been identified as dangerous. Necessary instructions have been given to law enforcement agencies to prevent human trafficking in these areas. The points using which these crimes are committed will be identified and conducted in a well-organized and planned manner. He said the government is committed to stopping human trafficking. For this purpose law enforcement forces will conduct regular operations and criminals will be brought under the law.
