Sand filling truck breaks down at railway crossing in Gazipur, train movement on Dhaka-Yamuna bridge route temporarily stopped

Train movement on the Dhaka-Yamuna Bridge route has been temporarily suspended as a sand-laden truck broke down and got stuck on the railway line at the Sonakhali railway crossing in Kaliakore, Gazipur. Due to this, a few trains including the Nilsagar Express train got stuck near the incident site, causing suffering to the passengers. The incident took place at the Sonakhali railway crossing on the Kaliakair-Dhamrai road around nine o’clock on Tuesday morning.
Eyewitnesses said that a truck loaded with sand suddenly broke down while crossing the railway line and got stuck on the railway line. Local people tried to move the truck but it was not possible.

According to railway and local sources, heavy vehicles often face problems due to ditches on both sides of the road. Many trucks slow down and get stuck in the middle, especially when crossing railway crossings. Due to this, train movement is often disrupted and passengers suffer. When the railway authorities were informed soon after the incident, they quickly reached the spot and started trying to remove the truck. However, till the last news, the truck could not be moved and the train movement on that route has been temporarily stopped.
Meanwhile, local residents said that such incidents often occur due to the bad condition of the road at Sonakhali railway crossing. They demanded immediate repair of the road and a permanent solution so that there is no further disruption to the train movement in the future.

Stationmaster of Joydevpur Railway Junction Mahmudul Hasan said that train movement on this route has been stopped for the time being as a truck broke down on the railway line. Nilsagar Express train is stranded near the spot. Work is underway to move the truck, the situation will be normalized soon.
