Robi deploys electric bike fleet to expand nationwide service network

Mobile operator Robi has launched a nationwide green initiative, deploying a fleet of electric motorcycles dubbed “Robi Super Bikes” to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency across Bangladesh. The initiative, now active in 458 upazilas and police stations across all 64 districts, aims to modernize the company’s distribution network while significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
By transitioning from traditional fossil-fuel-powered motorcycles to electric alternatives, Robi is aligning its field operations with sustainable transportation goals. The company stated that the shift allows staff to provide digital services and customer support more effectively, particularly in remote areas where logistical agility is essential to maintaining a robust service infrastructure.

Introduced last year to streamline fieldwork, the custom-designed electric bikes are equipped with specialized features to support complex tasks. Each unit includes a convertible cargo box, branded umbrellas, and USB ports for charging mobile devices and lamps. To facilitate public engagement, the bikes are also fitted with audio microphones for awareness campaigns.
Security and fleet management have been prioritized through the integration of advanced technologies. The motorcycles feature face-recognition unlocking systems, geo-fencing capabilities, and real-time GPS tracking to ensure the safety and efficient management of the mobile fleet.

Robi’s Chief Commercial Officer, Shihab Ahmad, emphasized that the Super Bike project represents a pivotal step in the company’s commitment to sustainable development. According to Ahmad, the initiative not only reinforces the company’s environmental stewardship but also ensures that customers in even the most remote corners of the country receive faster, more reliable service.
