Returned to the country after serving jail time in Kuwait, died at the airport

Nurul Islam Sagar (35), a resident of Parashuram, Feni, went to Kuwait in the Middle East eight months ago with the dream of changing his and his family’s fortunes. He was detained there because he did not have valid documents. He was in jail for several days. After his imprisonment he was sent to his home country. He fell down on the ground due to chest pain while landing at Dhaka airport on Saturday midnight. At one stage, forever passed into the land of no return. The relatives of the family are speechless at such a death.

According to family sources of Nurul Islam, Chhatra League leader Nurul Islam was away from home for a long time after the change of government on August 5, 2024. In August 2025, he moved to the Middle Eastern country of Kuwait in search of employment. After going there, he was arrested by the police after staying in different areas. Later spent 15 days in jail. After his imprisonment, he was sent to the country. After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 1 am yesterday, he suddenly started having chest pain. The policemen in charge of the airport rushed him to the Kurmitola General Hospital. He died of cardiac arrest there around 2 am.
Nurul Islam’s father Md. Shahjahan said that the police of Parashuram police station came to their house at around 2 am and informed that his son had died at Dhaka airport. Later, he took two neighbors with him and left for Dhaka to bring the body.
Nurul Islam’s younger sister Shefali Akhtar said, “My brother was afraid of political damage when he came home. From this he was under pressure. In this situation, he got down to the airport and broke down mentally. I think my brother died due to excessive stress.’
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Parashuram Model Police Station. Ashraful Islam said, after landing in Dhaka on a plane from Kuwait, Nurul Islam felt pain in the chest and fell down inside the airport. Later the police took him to the hospital where he died. According to the address of the passport with him, the matter was reported to the Parashuram police station from the airport police station and the police informed the family at night. Accordingly, the relatives collected the body from the airport.
When asked whether there is any case against the deceased Nurul Islam Sagar in Parashuram police station or not, the OC said that after initial inquiry, he came to know that there is no case against Nurul Islam Sagar in the police station.
