The lock of the student body given to the Rangamati University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor’s office is still hanging. Earlier on Tuesday, Vice Chancellor Md. Branch Chhatra Dal leaders and activists locked the office of Atiyar Rahman demanding his resignation. They accused the vice chancellor of the university of irregularities in the appointment, insulting the local culture. However, the Vice-Chancellor was not in the campus at the time of the lockdown.
This morning, it was seen that the main gate of the vice-chancellor’s office was locked. The employees working in the office of this office are staying in the office of the registrar. On condition of anonymity, several employees said that the official activities are being disrupted due to the lock in their office. They do not know when these activities will be normal.
When asked, Nasir Uddin, convenor of the university branch student union, said, ‘The office is still locked. No decision has been made on this. Our program will continue until the vice-chancellor resigns.
University Vice-Chancellor Atiyar Rahman told Prothom Alo that he was in Dhaka yesterday. Now there is Rangamati. The administration has asked to take action against those who have locked the office, those who are doing this. He hopes that the matter will be resolved soon.
When asked about the complaints of Chhatra Dal, Atiyar Rahman said, “These complaints have no basis.” They (student group) did not tell me any specific written demand. He could not even provide proof of these.
