Protesters March Toward Parliament Demanding Education Minister Resignation and Exam Postponement

Protesting students departed the capital’s Science Lab intersection on Tuesday afternoon, marching toward the National Parliament building to escalate their demands for immediate educational reforms. After paralyzing the busy intersection for over an hour, the demonstrators began their procession along Mirpur Road at approximately 5:20 p.m., bringing traffic to a standstill as they pressed for structural changes to the current academic testing schedule.
The protesters have issued a three-point ultimatum centered on the resignation of the Education Minister. They are demanding that the minister step down by 6:00 p.m. today and issue a formal apology for what they described as inappropriate and inconsistent remarks regarding the student body.
The students are also calling for a significant overhaul of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations. Their demands include the immediate suspension of Wednesday’s scheduled tests, the issuance of a revised examination calendar, and a commitment to designing future question papers that are more student-friendly. Furthermore, the demonstrators are insisting that all students—including those who participated in the July 13 exams under what they termed “uncomfortable” conditions and those who were unable to do so—be granted the opportunity to retake those specific papers.
As the procession moves toward the parliamentary area, the situation remains fluid. The protesters maintain that their campaign will continue until the government provides a clear response to their demands for accountability and academic relief.
