Prime Minister Tareque Rahman visits Matarbari to inspect development projects and oversee flood rehabilitation efforts in Chittagong

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, on Sunday to conduct an inspection of major infrastructure projects, including the Matarbari deep-sea port. The Prime Minister’s helicopter landed at the Matarbari helipad at 10:52 a.m., where he was received by the State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on the flight were Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, and Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku. Mr. Rahman had departed from his residence in Gulshan, Dhaka, at 8:50 a.m. and flown from Tejgaon Airport shortly after 9:00 a.m.

According to Deputy Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Ruman, the Prime Minister’s itinerary includes site visits to the Matarbari deep-sea port, the coal-fired power plant project, and the facilities managed by the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority. Following these inspections, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to flood-affected regions in Banshkhali and Hathazari to oversee rehabilitation efforts and distribute new housing units to displaced residents.

At 12:30 p.m., the Prime Minister will attend a rehabilitation program for flood victims held at the West Banshkhali High School and College grounds in Baharchhara Union. His afternoon schedule includes a meeting with Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari at Al-Jamia-tul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari at 2:00 p.m.

At 3:15 p.m., the Prime Minister will visit the Hathazari Al-Jamia-tul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa to pay respects at the grave of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi. After a brief stop at the Hathazari Guest House at 3:45 p.m., he is expected to address another rehabilitation ceremony at the Hathazari Government College grounds at 5:00 p.m.

The Prime Minister will conclude his official engagements at 7:15 p.m. by attending an organizational meeting at the Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View hotel. He is scheduled to depart from Shah Amanat International Airport at 9:30 p.m. to return to Dhaka.
