Prime Minister Tareque Rahman mourns death of 16 Bangladeshis in Riyadh factory fire

Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has expressed profound shock and grief following the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi nationals in a devastating factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The tragedy, which occurred on Monday, broke out at a sofa manufacturing facility in the Saudi capital.

In a formal statement issued on Monday, the Prime Minister conveyed his deepest condolences to the grieving families and pledged comprehensive government support.

Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Saleh Shibli, stated that the Prime Minister is closely monitoring the situation. Directives have been issued to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh to coordinate efforts for the immediate repatriation of the victims’ remains.

Shibli added that the Prime Minister has instructed the relevant ministries to prioritize the process, ensuring the bodies are brought home as quickly as possible. The Prime Minister’s Office has committed to providing all necessary administrative and financial assistance to facilitate the operation.
