Police Recover Bodies of Mother and Daughter in Dinajpur Following Domestic Dispute

Police in Parbatipur, Dinajpur, recovered the bodies of a mother and her teenage daughter from their home in the Chhoto Chandipur Kalirhat area on Monday afternoon. The victims, identified as 40-year-old Chhabi Rani and her 15-year-old daughter, Pallabi Rani, were found hanging from a ceiling fan by local officials.
According to Mostafapur Union Parishad member Md. Yakin Ali, the discovery was made after he was alerted by the husband and father, Ripen Chandra Roy. Upon arriving at the scene, Yakin Ali discovered the bodies and promptly notified the Ambari police investigation center, which subsequently took custody of the remains.

Preliminary reports and accounts from local residents suggest that the tragedy may have been precipitated by a family dispute. Police investigation officials noted that Pallabi had married a man in the neighboring Fulbari upazila approximately 10 to 12 days ago without her father’s consent. Residents reported that the marriage had caused significant friction within the household, leading to intense arguments between the parents. It is alleged that Ripen assaulted both his wife and daughter earlier on the day of the incident, prompting the local community to conclude that the pair took their own lives.
Md. Kamal Hossain, in-charge of the Ambari police investigation center, stated that authorities are awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations. He emphasized that the exact cause of death will be officially confirmed only after the forensic reports are finalized.
