PM attends former state health ministers funeral

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman participated in the funeral prayer of former State Minister for Health Mizanur Rahman Sinha. The prayer service took place at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building.
Sinha, who also served as the Managing Director of the prominent pharmaceutical company Acme Laboratories Limited and Group, passed away on Friday night at a hospital in Singapore at the age of 83.

The funeral prayer was led by Abu Rayhan, senior Imam of the National Parliament Secretariat. Among those in attendance were the Speaker of the National Parliament, retired Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram), Deputy Speaker Kaysar Kamal, and Minister for Local Government Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with other members of the cabinet.
Following the prayer, Prime Minister Tareque Rahman laid a wreath in honor of Mizanur Rahman Sinha. Subsequently, the Speaker of the National Parliament, the Minister for Local Government, and other dignitaries also paid their respects. A prayer and supplication were offered for the departed soul.

Mizanur Rahman Sinha was elected as a Member of Parliament representing the Munshiganj-2 constituency in the seventh (1996) and eighth (2001) National Parliamentary elections under the nomination of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
During his tenure as a Member of Parliament, Sinha served as the State Minister for Health and Family Welfare in the four-party alliance government led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He also held the position of Treasurer for the central BNP for an extended period and was most recently appointed as the Convener of the Munshiganj District BNP committee.
