Patuakhali University of Technology teachers-students are on strike for the fourth day demanding the removal of the vice-chancellor

Patuakhali Science and Technology University teachers, staff and general students are on a sit-in strike for the fourth day demanding the removal of the vice-chancellor. About 200 people stood in front of the administration building at around 10 am on Thursday and demanded the suspension of all activities and the removal of the Vice-Chancellor and the arrest of those involved in the attack.
Prof. ABM Saiful Islam, who participated in the movement, said that a sit-in strike was held peacefully in front of the administration building last Monday against the irregularities, corruption and arbitrariness of Vice-Chancellor Kazi Rafiqul Islam. At that time, under the influence of the Vice-Chancellor, about a hundred outsiders entered the university and ambushed them. This is not at all acceptable from a university vice-chancellor. Therefore, until the removal of the Vice-Chancellor and the arrest of the people involved in the attack, the movement will continue with the suspension of all activities of Pobiprabi.
Abul Bashar Khan, proctor of Pobiprabi who participated in the movement, said, “Declaring the Vice-Chancellor undesirable, about a hundred teachers, officials and employees along with him observed a sit-in strike on Monday. If the vice-chancellor has any objections or points of discussion, he can talk to us. But instead of doing that, they were ambushed by bringing outsiders.
Proctor Abul Bashar Khan also said that external terrorists, fueled by the Vice-Chancellor, will enter the university and beat, injure and threaten the teachers, officers and employees, which cannot be accepted. Therefore, the movement will continue along with suspending all activities until the trial of the Vice-Chancellor and the arrest of those involved in the attack. However, considering the future of the students, the exam will be held next Sunday. Apart from this, no other activities will be carried out.
Zahid Ratul, President of the University Branch Student Union, said that due to the attack on teachers, officials and employees on Monday, the shutdown program is going on for the fourth day today. Ordinary students also participated in the movement initiated by teachers and officials.
It is known from Paviprabi sources that on Monday the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Declaring Kazi Rafiqul Islam undesirable, hundreds of teachers, officials, employees and general students observed sit-in strike. At that time, member secretary Salahuddin Ripon Sharif, who was expelled from Dumki Upazila Juba Dal for life, and his followers announced on Facebook live and attacked the agitators.
In protest of this incident, ordinary students held a protest march that afternoon. At the same time, shutdown of all activities of the university was announced. Since then the teachers, officials and employees have continued the agitation.
On the other hand, Dumki Upazila BNP Finance Secretary Bashir Uddin, Upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Ahsan Farooq and Sultan Shawkat, Upazila Swachsevak Dal joint convener Musa Faraji and District Women’s Dal member Helena Khanam have been expelled from all party positions due to clear evidence of their involvement in the attack. At the same time, it has been said in the expulsion order to take legal action against all those involved including former Juba Dal leader Salahuddin Ripon Sharif.
