A ship from Singapore has arrived at Chittagong port with aircraft fuel jet fuel. The ship ‘MT Great Princess’ entered the jetty of the port at eight o’clock this Tuesday morning. The ship has about 12 thousand tons of jet fuel. The oil was supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Limited.

The government organization Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) said that till April 12, the stock of jet fuel in the country was about 22 thousand tons, with which it is possible to meet the demand of about 15 days. Stocks increased further as new consignments were added. Although the demand of jet fuel in the country is relatively low. 21 thousand tons were sold from April 1 to 12, the daily average is 1 thousand 758 tons. The average sale during the same period last year was around one and a half thousand tons.

Meanwhile, two more ships are scheduled to reach Chittagong tonight at 11 pm with diesel. The vessel ‘MT Torm Damini’ is carrying about 33 thousand tonnes of diesel, supplied by Unipac Singapore Pte Ltd. At the same time, about 35,000 tons of diesel are arriving on board the ‘MT Lucia Solis’; The supplier company is Singapore-based Vital Asia.

Diesel accounts for the largest share of fuel oil consumed in the country, about 63 percent. Transport, agriculture, industry and power generation—all sectors depend heavily on it. According to the data of BPC, the total demand of diesel in the country is about four lakh tons in the current month of April. Multiple shipments are planned throughout the month to meet this demand.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of the month on April 3, ‘MT Yuan Xing He’ brought 27 thousand tons of diesel. On the same day, another ship named ‘MT Shan Gang Fa Jian’ arrived at around two o’clock in the morning with another 34,000 tons. The people concerned believe that the addition of two new ships will ease the supply pressure.

However, the pressure is not completely cut compared to the demand. A total of 1 lakh 33 thousand tons of diesel was sold in the country from April 1 to 12, a daily average of 11 thousand 138 tons. Sources of BPC and Ministry of Energy say that till April 12, the stock of diesel available in the country was 1 lakh 19 thousand tons, with which it was possible to meet the demand for about 10 days. As new consignments are added, the stock will increase by another three to four days.
