Noakhali student gave SSC exam in jail

A student appeared for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination sitting in the Noakhali District Jail. He was examined in a prison cell on Tuesday. On the first day, the Bengali first paper exam was held.

The student is 15 years old. According to prison authorities, the student was sent to Tongir Juvenile Correctional Facility in Gazipur in a murder case. But he was brought to Noakhali jail for examination. As per the directions of the court, he is being examined in a jail cell.

According to prison sources, the student is a student of a school in Sadar Upazila. His examination center is also in the same upazila. Arrangements have been made to take his examination under the supervision of the secretary of that centre. At the end of the examination, the answer sheet is sent to the head of the center as usual.

If asked, the prison supervisor A. Barek told Prothom Alo that the teenager was brought to Noakhali prison from Tongir correctional facility three days ago to give him the opportunity to participate in the SSC examination. A teacher performed the duty of room inspector.

District Education Officer Noor Uddin Jahangir told Prothom Alo that 35 thousand 501 students are taking the SSC, Dakhil and Technical 75 centers in Noakhali district. Among them, there are 8 thousand 671 candidates in submission and 1 thousand 723 candidates in technical.
