Khandkar Afroza is a native of Nipur village in Kadimadhalya village of Jamurki union of Mirzapur upazila of Tangail. Her father late Khandkar Anwar Hossain was a popular UP Chairman and mother Rabeya Khandkar was the leader of Tangail District and Central BNP Mahila Dal. Her husband Saidur Rahman Syed Sohrab is Co-Cultural Affairs Secretary of BNP Central Committee and former GS of Dhaka University’s Mohsin Hall.

Her husband Saidur Rahman Said Sohrab was the party candidate of BNP for Tangail-7 (Mirzapur) constituency in 2001 and recently concluded thirteenth parliamentary elections.

It is known that he played an important role in the anti-dictatorship movement of 1990. He was also the former GS of Dhaka University’s Kuwait Friendship Hall’s Parliament Student Party. Khandaker Afroza Nipu, a victim of dictatorial Sheikh Hasina’s revenge, was subjected to torture and oppression but did not leave BNP. Awami League government forcibly dismissed him from the post of GM of Biman Bangladesh Airlines due to BNP’s politicking.

Mirzapur BNP leaders Hamidur Rahman Lathu and Kazi Harij said that Khandkar Afroza Nipu is an experienced political activist and a dedicated organizer of BNP. While he was a student at Dhaka University, he actively participated in the politics of the nationalist student party and fought in various movements. Through his leadership, organizational work and public involvement he has earned the trust of his team and the general public.
