Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended a warm formal welcome to his Bangladeshi counterpart, Tarique Rahman, at the Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya on Monday, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. The ceremony took place as part of Prime Minister Rahman’s maiden state visit since assuming office following his party’s decisive victory in the 13th parliamentary elections last February.

Prime Minister Rahman, accompanied by his wife, Zubaida Rahman, arrived at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s office shortly after departing from their hotel in Kuala Lumpur. They were received at the entrance by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The ceremonial arrival included a full military guard of honor presented by the Malaysian Armed Forces, during which the national anthems of both nations were played. Prime Minister Rahman inspected the guard before both leaders engaged in a formal introduction of their respective delegations, including members of the Malaysian cabinet.

Following the introductions, Prime Minister Rahman signed the official visitors’ book before proceeding to a private meeting with Prime Minister Ibrahim. The atmosphere in Putrajaya was one of celebration, with the route to the government complex decorated with the national flags of both countries.
