Kushtia man arrested for child rape following public beating

Police in Kushtia have launched an investigation into the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl, an incident that prompted a violent confrontation between local residents and the suspect.
According to a report by Prothom Alo, the suspect, 32-year-old Ashadul Islam, was apprehended by community members after he allegedly lured the child into a local school on Sunday morning under the pretense of providing food. Following the assault, local residents reportedly discovered the situation and administered a severe beating to the suspect before law enforcement arrived to intervene.
Both the victim and the suspect were transported to Kushtia General Hospital. Dr. Iqbal Hossain, the hospital’s resident medical officer, confirmed that the child is currently admitted and undergoing medical observation and testing. The suspect remains in police custody at the same facility, where he is being treated for injuries sustained during the public altercation.
Kushtia Model Police Station officer-in-charge Kabir Hossain Matubbar stated that a formal case was registered late Sunday evening after the victim’s father filed a complaint. Police have officially recorded the arrest of Ashadul Islam, who is the sole suspect named in the investigation.
