Islami Andolon Bangladesh warns against obstructing July Charter implementation

Senior leader of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, has warned that any attempt to undermine or manipulate the “July Charter” will face severe consequences. Speaking during a rally in Barishal on Wednesday, the party’s senior naib-e-amir declared that the movement would not tolerate any deception regarding the implementation of the agreement, which he described as a crucial roadmap for the nation.

Addressing a crowd gathered to commemorate the Mass Uprising Day, Faizul Karim emphasized that the charter was born from the blood and sacrifice of students and citizens who sought to establish a society rooted in justice. He cautioned that failing to execute the provisions of the charter would dishonor the thousands who gave their lives during the uprising, asserting that the party remains committed to upholding the aspirations of the martyrs.

The rally, organized by the Barishal metropolitan branch of Islami Andolan, followed a procession that moved through the city’s main thoroughfares before concluding at the Town Hall. The event also served as a platform for Faizul Karim to criticize the ongoing unrest within the country’s educational institutions. He called on the government to take immediate action to end the violence and power struggles currently plaguing university campuses.

Faizul Karim noted that students are increasingly living in a state of insecurity, with the recurrence of campus violence threatening the stability of the academic environment. He lamented that schools and universities appear to be regressing into the patterns of conflict that defined previous administrations, arguing that such chaos was not the intended outcome of the mass uprising.

The assembly was presided over by Muhammad Lokman Hakim, president of the party’s Barishal metropolitan branch, and featured speeches from several other local leaders, including Maulana Abul Khayer Ashrafi, Maulana Zakaria Hamidi, and Maulana Lutfor Rahman. The speakers collectively reaffirmed their demand for a secure, equitable, and stable national environment in line with the objectives of the July movement.
