Monsoon Rains to Persist Across Bangladesh With Heavy Downpours Forecast for Southern Districts

Bangladesh’s meteorological department expects normal monsoon rainfall to persist across the country over the coming days, though conditions are poised to shift geographically. Meteorologists report that the seasonal monsoon remains active over the nation, with scattered to widespread rainfall and thundershowers forecast through early next week.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated to strike the country’s southern regions in the immediate 24-hour window ending Friday evening. While the southern coast braces for intense downpours, the intensity of rain in Dhaka is expected to diminish slightly between Friday and Saturday compared to the heavy precipitation observed earlier in the week.
Forecasters have mapped out a wet outlook for the next five days, noting that most areas in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions will experience significant rain through Friday. Meanwhile, the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions are expected to see moderate coverage.
The weather pattern is scheduled to shift from Saturday through Monday, as rainfall activity intensifies across the northern regions. During this period, most of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet will see widespread showers, while moderate to heavy rain remains possible in other parts of the country.
Data collected between Wednesday and Thursday evening highlighted the concentration of the monsoon’s strength, with Teknaf recording the highest rainfall in the country at 140 millimeters. Conversely, several areas, including Rajshahi, Badalgachhi, Chuadanga, and Bhola, reported no measurable rainfall during the same 24-hour period.
