In Gazipur, the businessman was held hostage and money was collected, the ASI was withdrawn

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) has been withdrawn for allegedly picking up a businessman, beating him up and extorting money by intimidation in Konabari area of Gazipur Nagar. On Wednesday morning, he was withdrawn from Konabari police station and attached to the district police lines.
The name of that ASI is Azizul Haque. Confirming the matter, Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iftekhar Hossain said, ‘Immediately after receiving the complaint, we informed the higher authorities. Later the accused ASI was withdrawn. The matter is under investigation, if the allegations are proved, departmental action will be taken against him.
According to police sources, senior officials have taken the matter seriously based on the written complaint of a businessman named Delwar Hossain. The ASI has been withdrawn from Konabari police station after getting the facts of the incident initially. Now after investigating the matter, action will be taken against any other police involved in the incident.
Delwar Hossain alleged that he was taken to a CNG and taken to a secluded place and beaten. Later money was recovered through mobile banking under the threat of being implicated in a drug case. After the incident, the accused went to his house and tried to settle the matter by returning some money.
