“If anyone owes my father, let me know”, son’s miking in the area

In Ulipur of Kurigram, a person has taken an exceptional initiative to pay the debt of his sick father. If anyone owes money to his father, he has been miking in auto-rickshaws in the upazila city and surrounding areas, urging him to contact them. His initiative has won the praise of the local people.
The person’s name is Maruf Hossain (38). He is a resident of Madhupur village of Dharanibari union of Ulipur upazila. His father Abur Hossain (90) is a brave freedom fighter and cloth merchant. He is bedridden due to various diseases for a long time.
According to local sources, Abur Hossain, who has been sick for about seven months, is under treatment at home. Due to age and illness, his business has also closed. At this time, some debts remained. Son Maruf decided to pay all the debts during his father’s lifetime.
Maruf has been miking in auto rickshaws in Ulipur upazila city, market and different areas since Saturday morning. He said on the mic, “If anyone owes money to my father Abur Hossain, please contact me.” We want to pay father’s debt.
Maruf’s initiative caught the attention of the local people. Many people stand on the street and listen to the miking. The discussion on the matter also started on Facebook. Many see it as a rare example of integrity and family responsibility.
Aminul Islam, a local resident, said that disputes over father’s property are common these days. There is a son calling on people himself to repay his father’s debt, a truly commendable initiative.
Zarif Uddin, a businessman in Dharanibari area, said that many people now want to avoid their own responsibilities. But the way this boy has come forward to protect his father’s honor will give a positive message to the society.
Maruf Hossain said, “My father has done business with honesty all his life. I don’t want him to leave the world leaving anyone’s rights. I think it is my responsibility as a child. He also said that many times people cannot talk about debt due to shyness. So that no one should be deprived, that’s why he made a call to everyone by miking himself.
