Government to launch dedicated female-operated bus service in Dhaka on Tuesday

A specialized bus service exclusively for women is set to launch in the capital city’s Tejgaon area this coming Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Operated by the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC), the fleet will be distinguished by its signature pink exterior.
In a move aimed at fostering gender inclusivity within the transport sector, these buses will be staffed entirely by women, including both drivers and conductors. The initiative is designed to provide female commuters with a safer and more comfortable public transportation experience while simultaneously expanding employment opportunities for women in the industry.
The launch of the service fulfills a key commitment outlined in the government’s election manifesto. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam is scheduled to officially inaugurate the new service.
