The fire was extinguished by the efforts of local people.

The local people got angry and locked Umar Farooq in a room by storing fuel oil in the house and putting the tenants at risk of fire. Later, at around 11 pm, the upazila administration got the information and raided there with the police. At that time, the evidence of the fire accident was found through the stored gasoline. Apart from this, another 70 liters of petrol stored in a container in the stairwell of the house were found during the search.

Umar Farooq was questioned about this and he confessed. Later, Umar Farooq was sentenced to 10 days without labor and fined 5 thousand rupees under the relevant section of the Petroleum Act, 2016 for the crime of stockpiling fuel oil without a license through a mobile court.
