Four-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured in Chittagong Stabbing Following Neighbor Dispute

A four-year-old boy is recovering in a private hospital in Chittagong after undergoing emergency surgery for severe stab wounds sustained during a violent neighborhood dispute. The victim, Mohammad Dian, was visiting his maternal grandparents in the city’s BRTC Jamtala slum area on Friday evening when he was caught in the crossfire of a confrontation between his uncle and a neighbor.
According to the boy’s uncle, Azharul Haque, the incident began as a minor argument with a neighbor identified as Nurunnabi. As the disagreement escalated, Nurunnabi allegedly brandished a knife and attempted to attack Haque. When the assailant failed to strike his intended target, he turned the weapon on the young child. The attack was so severe that it caused the child’s intestines to protrude from his abdomen.
The family initially rushed the boy to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, but he was subsequently transferred to a private facility to undergo urgent surgical intervention. Doctors worked throughout the night to stabilize the toddler’s condition.
Local law enforcement officials confirmed the details of the assault, noting that the violence stemmed from a trivial domestic quarrel. Abu Sayed Md. Nazmun Nur, officer-in-charge of the Kotwali police station, stated that three individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the attack. Police are currently preparing to file formal charges as the investigation continues.
