Fear of terrorist attacks: Security has been strengthened at 8 airports including Hazrat Shahjalal

Security measures have been strengthened at eight airports in the country, including the capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, due to the fear of possible terrorist attacks on important installations of the country. Air Vice Marshal Mustafa Mahmud Siddique, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (BABICHAK), gave this information in an exchange meeting with journalists on Monday.

Mustafa Mahmud Siddique said security has been strengthened at eight airports in the country following a letter from the police headquarters. Airports are state critical installations (KPIs) and are under tight security at all times. However, after receiving that letter, the security has been increased. He mentioned that this is a part of regular activities.

Bangladesh currently has a total of eight airports, including three international airports—Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet—and five domestic airports. Apart from Babychock’s own Aviation Security (AVSEC), members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies are responsible for security at these airports.
