Dhaka man jailed for tampering with motorcycle license plate to evade AI traffic monitoring

Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested a motorcyclist who manipulated his vehicle’s license plate to evade detection by artificial intelligence-powered traffic surveillance systems. The suspect was apprehended after investigators discovered he had deliberately obscured three digits on his plate to bypass automated traffic monitoring equipment.
Following his arrest, the individual was presented before a special magistrate’s court, where he was sentenced to one month in prison and ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 taka.
The details of the case were disclosed during a press briefing held Tuesday morning at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media Center on Minto Road. Authorities stated that the incident highlights the ongoing challenges of maintaining digital traffic enforcement as motorists increasingly seek methods to circumvent modern surveillance technologies.
