Daudkandi Truck Plunge Kills Seven

SEVEN agricultural laborers died and five others were critically injured early Tuesday when a rice-laden truck veered off the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and plunged into a roadside ditch in Cumilla, Bangladesh. The victims, all from Dinajpur, were en route to Noakhali when the accident occurred around 2:45 AM in the Hasanpur area of Daudkandi upazila.
Police confirmed the fatalities, identifying the deceased as Abjal Hossain (35), Sohrab Hossain (40), Abu Salek (42), Sumon Mia (21), Bishu Mia (34), Abu Hossain (29), and Abdur Rashid (58). Their bodies have been recovered and are being held at the Daudkandi Highway Police Station.

The five injured — Amir Ali (45), Tariqul Islam (50), Jalal Hossain (37), Md Aminul Islam (38), and Jahangir Alam (40) — initially received treatment at the Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex. Due to their critical condition, they were subsequently transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
A physician at the Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex, Nayan Dey, stated that the injured individuals were in a very critical state. The truck, carrying rice, was traveling from Dinajpur to Noakhali when the driver lost control.
