Clashes between two sides by lighting flashlights in Sarail, injured more than half a hundred

More than half a hundred people were injured in the clash between the two sides over dominance in Brahmanbaria’s Sarail. The clash took place between the residents of East and West Para of Sagardighir Par village of Sadar Union by lighting torches on Sunday night.
According to the police and villager sources, Borhan Mia, the influential man of West Para, was drying paddy and straw there for a few days after occupying the sand field of Sagardighir Par village. Yesterday afternoon, when some children and teenagers of the village went to play football in that field, Borhan Mia got into an argument with them. Due to this, Borhan Mia and his men beat up a young man named Shivab Mia (23) of Purba Para. At this time, they also attacked a shop of the opponent.
After that incident, around 6:30 in the evening, people from both sides clashed on the rural road with sticks, bricks and firecrackers. The people of Maligaon and East Para along with Haluapara also participated on behalf of West Para.
In this clash, more than half a hundred people including two members of Sarail police station were injured. The injured persons have been treated at various clinics including the local upazila health complex.
Manjur Quader Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sarail police station, said that this incident happened due to a trivial incident. The police brought the incident under control by baton around 9:30 pm. Now the situation in the area is calm. Those involved in the incident will be brought under the law.
