Detective police arrested 14 leaders and workers of banned organizations Chhatra League and Jubo League during a ‘secret’ meeting in Chittagong city. They were arrested from the fourth floor of a restaurant in Halishahar Nayabazar Biswa Road area of ​​the city at around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner of City Intelligence Police (North) Habibur Rahman told Prothom Alo last night that the detained Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists have announced the formation of a new platform called ‘Sheikh Hasina Oikya Parishad’. They met in a secret meeting about the activities of that platform. 14 people were arrested after receiving information. An operation is underway to arrest others involved in the incident. He also said that the detained persons are being interrogated.

According to police sources, processions and activities under the banner of Chhatra League have increased in various areas in the city recently. On April 25, three separate processions were held at Polo Ground of Kotwali Police Station, OR Nizam Road of Panchlaish Police Station and Karnaphuli Market area. Earlier, processions also took place at secluded places in Ananya Residential and Outer Ring Road areas. Later, the videos of these processions were spread on social media Facebook.

In view of this, law enforcement forces have intensified intelligence surveillance. The police said that this operation was carried out as part of that.
