Bus crash in Dhaka leaves one dead and two injured

A passenger bus traveling from Netrokona to Dhaka overturned early Saturday morning in the Mohakhali Amtoli area of the capital, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. when the Bhati Bangla Paribahan bus lost control and struck a road divider, causing the vehicle to flip on its side. According to local police and fire service officials, the impact resulted in immediate casualties among those on board.

The bus conductor, 35-year-old Md. Rafiqul Islam, sustained critical injuries during the crash. Fire service personnel arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and transported him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead by attending physicians.

Two passengers, identified as 25-year-old Md. Roni and 40-year-old Md. Firoz, were also injured in the accident. Both remain hospitalized and are currently receiving emergency medical treatment.

Mustafa Kamal, a representative from the Tejgaon Fire Station, confirmed that emergency teams were dispatched immediately to recover the victims from the wreckage. Police have since moved the deceased’s body to the hospital morgue for post-mortem procedures.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the factors that led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. As of Saturday afternoon, police inquiries into the cause of the accident remain ongoing.
