BNP leader arrested with weapons by Coast Guard in Bhola, human chained in protest

Bhola Sadar Upazila’s Dakshin Dighaldi Union BNP leader and Bangladesh Muktijodha Parjanam Dal Vice President Zakir Hossain Faraji protested the detention of human chains and protests. This program was celebrated in front of the Sadar police station on Tuesday afternoon under the banner of ‘People from all levels of the Union’.
Speakers in the human chain alleged that Zakir Hossain was detained on false charges on purpose. A gentleman is being called a notorious terrorist after being arrested with weapons, drugs. However, no action is being taken against those who have caused the suffering of Meghna fishermen for a long time. They demanded an impartial investigation by law enforcement agencies and protested arbitrary detentions and beatings.

However, Coast Guard media officer Lt. Commander Sabbir Alam (Sujan) said that a special operation was conducted in Elisha Tulatuli estuary area of Sadar police station on the basis of secret information. At this time, a person named Zakir Hossain (42) was arrested after searching the Karnaphuli-13 launch. 1 single-barreled gun, 4 fresh bullets and 2 kg ganja worth around 80 thousand taka were seized from him. In the initial interrogation, it is said that he has been involved in drug trade and terrorist activities for a long time.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Monirul Islam said that the detained Zakir Hossain is a resident of Koralia Khaerhat area of Sadar Upazila. There are several cases against him in the police station. Legal action is pending in connection with the seized weapons and drugs.
