BGB Thwarts Indian Border Guard Attempt to Push Three Into Bangladesh

Local residents and members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully thwarted an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push three individuals across the border into Joypurhat on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. near the 275/8-S sub-pillar area of the West Ramkrishnapur border.

According to local witnesses, BSF personnel allegedly deactivated a floodlight along the border fence under the cover of darkness to facilitate the entry of the three individuals into Bangladesh. Residents patrolling the area detected the movement and immediately intervened, preventing the group from crossing and alerting BGB authorities. Upon the arrival of BGB troops from the Bhutiyapara Border Outpost, the BSF’s attempt to force the individuals across the border was abandoned.

The group, currently stationed in the no-man’s-land between the two nations, consists of 65-year-old Hafizur Rahman and two women whose identities have not yet been confirmed.

Naeb Subedar Shamchuzzaman, the BGB camp commander at Bhutiyapara, confirmed the incident and stated that preparations are underway for a flag meeting between BGB and BSF company commanders to address the matter. Local government officials reported that the vigilance of the border community was instrumental in preventing the unauthorized crossing.
