BGB soldier found dead in Chuadanga barracks

Police in Chuadanga recovered the hanging body of a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member from a battalion barracks on Saturday afternoon. The deceased, 40-year-old Naik Azizur Rahman, was stationed with the 6 BGB battalion in Jafarpur.
The body was discovered in an unoccupied sixth-floor room of a residential barracks building within the Jafarpur base. According to authorities, while BGB personnel occupy the lower floors of the structure, the top level remained vacant. Investigators suspect that Rahman took his own life during the night, remaining undetected by his colleagues until the following morning.

Upon being notified, senior 6 BGB officials, along with the officer-in-charge of the Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, and investigative personnel, arrived at the scene to secure the area. The body was processed for a formal inquest report in the presence of the Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Aminul Islam. The remains were subsequently transported to the Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy before being released to the soldier’s family in Nityanandapur village, Jhenaidah.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of the 6 BGB battalion, confirmed the death and noted that the soldier had been struggling with mental health issues for some time.

Police officials stated that while the preliminary investigation points toward suicide, a conclusive cause of death will be determined following the receipt of the final autopsy report.
