Bangladesh Ministry Prioritizes Public-Private Partnerships and Local Engagement for Aviation and Tourism Projects

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has issued a new directive mandating that all future development projects within the sector must prioritize economic viability, long-term scalability, and the active integration of local communities. The policy shift also emphasizes the adoption of public-private partnership (PPP) models to enhance the delivery and sustainability of infrastructure improvements.

These requirements were outlined during a review meeting held Monday at the Secretariat, where officials assessed ongoing initiatives and proposed projects for the 2026-27 Annual Development Program (ADP). Minister Afroz Khan highlighted that all new proposals must align with the Prime Minister’s vision, ensuring that projects function as complementary components within a broader national development framework rather than isolated efforts.

Beyond strategic planning, the ministry has demanded greater operational efficiency from its staff. Minister Khan instructed officials to adopt a more proactive approach to project management to ensure that all current endeavors are completed within their designated timelines.

The meeting was attended by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and State Minister for Planning Junaid Abdur Rahim Saki. Senior officials representing the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Ministry of Planning, and relevant auxiliary agencies were also present to discuss the coordination required to meet these ambitious development targets.
