The government of Bangladesh has promoted 179 deputy secretaries to the rank of joint secretary, marking a significant administrative reshuffle. The Ministry of Public Administration formalized the appointments in two separate notifications issued on Thursday.
The primary order confirmed the promotion of 172 officials, while a subsequent notification elevated seven additional deputy secretaries currently serving in overseas embassies, high commissions, and various government offices. This move represents the first major wave of promotions within the civil service since the current government took office.

This latest round of advancements includes the first cohort of officials from the 25th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) administration cadre to reach the rank of joint secretary.
