Awami League will benefit if distance between BNP and Jamaat turns into conflict: Manju

My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju has commented that Awami League will benefit if the distance between BNP and Jamaat turns into a conflict.

Mojibur Rahman Manju made this comment in the speech of the chief guest at an organizer meeting of AB Party held at a restaurant in Chittagong city today. Golam Farooq, vice chairman of the party and convener of Chittagong Metropolitan Committee, presided over the event. The meeting was conducted by Metropolitan Member Secretary Syed Abul Kashem. Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary Siddiqur Rahman spoke as a special guest.

Mojibur Rahman Manju said that BNP formed the government in 1991 with the support of Jamaat. Later, due to the spread of influence of student organizations in educational institutions, hostile relations were formed between them and several bloody clashes took place. As a result, Awami League came to power in 1996. Later, in view of political realities and introspection, BNP and Jamaat joined forces again in 2001 and for a long time played the role of each other’s partners in power sharing and political movements.

Mojibur Rahman Manju also said that in the current political context, both parties are going to face each other again. If this distance turns into a conflict, it will naturally benefit the fallen fascist Awami League politically.

Manju said, “Different educational institutions of the country are gradually becoming hotter. Besides, the internal strife of the ruling BNP and the conflicting situation between BNP-Jamaat is increasing alarmingly. If this trend is not controlled now, the law and order situation in the country may go beyond the control of the government.

Mojibur Rahman Manju also said that the past practice of using the police as a party force is feared to return again. At the same time, the government’s backsliding in setting up the Police Reform Commission, strengthening the Independent Judiciary and the Anti-Corruption Commission could create a more complicated situation in the future.

In the rally, Mojibur Rahman Manju gave directions to the leaders to strengthen and expand the AB Party at the police station and ward level.
