Appointment of special public prosecutor for speedy trial of Pallaveer’s child murder

The government has appointed lawyer Azizur Rahman Dulu as a special public prosecutor (government counsel) to complete the trial of the murder of a child after the rape and murder of a child in the capital’s Pallabi.
This information was given in a notification issued by the Law and Justice Department of the Ministry of Law on Saturday.
According to the notification, lawyer Azizur Rahman Dulu has been appointed as a special public prosecutor to handle the Pallabi Thana case under trial at the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal.
The dismembered body of the child was recovered from the three-storey flat of a building in Pallavi around 11:30 on May 19. In this incident, the child’s father filed a case in Pallabi police station. Sohail Rana, the main accused in the murder, gave a confessional statement in the court the next day on Wednesday, May 20. In the statement, he confessed to killing the child after raping. After the cabinet meeting on May 21 night, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman went to meet the child’s family. He assured to ensure a fair investigation of the incident quickly.
After this brutal incident, various groups and organizations have been expressing their anger by condemning it. They demanded a fair investigation and speedy trial of the incident. Human chain and protest programs were held in different places of the capital on Saturday as well.
Meanwhile, today the post-mortem and DNA report has been handed over to Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Ahiduzzaman Bhuiya, the investigating officer in the case of child murder. As a result, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Pallabi police station Hasan Basir said that the charge sheet of the case will be submitted to the court tomorrow.
