Anti-Corruption Commission Summons Former Army Chief General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed Over Graft Allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former Army Chief General S.M. Shafiuddin Ahmed for questioning regarding allegations of acquiring illegal wealth through corruption. The commission confirmed the development on Sunday.

The ACC, through a notice issued from its headquarters, has directed the former army chief to appear before the commission on September 14. He has been instructed to bring a photocopy of his National Identity card for the proceedings.

The notice, signed by ACC Director and investigation officer Md. Abul Hasnat, states that an inquiry is currently underway into allegations that General S.M. Shafiuddin Ahmed amassed wealth through various irregularities and corrupt practices. The commission noted that his testimony is essential for a transparent and thorough investigation into the matter.

In addition to the summons, the commission has formed a two-member team to oversee the investigation and submit a report. The team is led by ACC Director Md. Abul Hasnat, with Deputy Director Mozammel Hossain serving as a member.

The ACC has formally requested that the former army chief appear at the commission’s head office at the designated time to provide his statement regarding the ongoing inquiry.
