Another child died with symptoms of measles in Barisal

Another child died in last 24 hours due to measles symptoms in Barisal. The child died at Sher-i-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal on Monday. With this, 20 children died of measles in the department. Among them, 17 children with symptoms of measles and three children died due to measles. Director of Barisal Divisional Health Directorate Shyamal Krishna Mondal confirmed this information.
According to Barisal Divisional Health Directorate sources, 90 children have been admitted with measles symptoms in the government hospitals of the division in the last 24 hours. This year, 2 thousand 117 children have come to the government hospital with symptoms of measles in this department. 84 children were diagnosed with measles among them.
According to sources, a limited number of children started coming to government hospitals in Barisal division with symptoms of measles in the beginning of this year. But in March, the situation turned dire. At the same time, the number of deaths also increased.
Director of Divisional Health Directorate Shyamal Krishna Mandal told Prothom Alo this afternoon, “Measles outbreak in Barisal division took a serious form mainly in March. It is still not under control. We have started special vaccination programs in high risk areas. We hope that the infection will come under control. He further said that since the beginning, the infection was the highest in Barguna of Barisal division. At the beginning of April, Patuakhali is also increasing equally. Now the incidence of measles is highest in these two districts. Apart from this, the three children who died of measles were from Barguna.
