Accused of rape of wife by holding husband in Homna

A housewife (18) has been accused of raping her husband while holding her at Homna in Comilla. In this incident, on Thursday morning, the housewife filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Children Torture Act at Homna police station.
Ashikur Rahman (24) of Oparchar village of the upazila has been made the main accused in the case. Some other accused have been named. The police could not arrest anyone in the incident till Thursday evening.

According to the statement of the case, the victim woman and her husband live in a rented house in Homna Municipal area. On Wednesday night, they were going to the home of the housewife’s father in the nearby Titas upazila by autorickshaw. After crossing Homna Agricultural College area, Ashikur Rahman and his associates stopped the speed of the auto-rickshaw. They then forcibly took the couple to a nearby road in an autorickshaw.
The affidavit further said that there Ashikur and two of his accomplices detained the woman while others took her husband and driver away after threatening them. At this time Ashikur raped the woman.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Homna police station Thomas Barua told Prothom Alo, “The victim woman came to the police station with her husband around 4 am in the morning and complained. Immediately after receiving the news, we took them with us on the expedition. However, since the incident, the accused have fled the area.
The OC also said that the victim woman has been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for medical examination. Police operations are underway to arrest the people involved.
