A young man was shot dead on a motorcycle in the capital

Police said a youth was shot dead by miscreants in Newmarket area of the capital. The incident took place at Battala in front of Shahnewaz Hall of Dhaka University on the west side of Newmarket on Tuesday around 8 pm.
According to the police, the identity of the deceased was not immediately known. He is approximately 40 years old.

According to the police, around 8:30 pm, some miscreants came on a motorcycle and fired indiscriminately at the young man. Five to six shots were fired at different parts of his body, including his head, from close range. Then they ran away as soon as possible.
Pedestrians rescued him with bullet wounds and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead at 8:27 pm.

Newmarket Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Molla Shahadat told Prothom Alo that the victim was wearing jeans pants and a printed half-sleeved shirt. Efforts are on to identify the deceased. The body has been kept in Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
