The name of the student in placement program is Lamisha Zaman. He is a student of the 53rd batch of history department of the university. According to Lamisha’s commentary and the security branch of the university, on Sunday evening, the students brought a young man from the neighboring area of the university to the security office for abusing two female students and misbehaving. At this time, the employee of the hotel called “Petuk” in Battala area of the campus. Naim also allegedly touched the victim girl badly. Later the accused employee Naim was arrested and handed over to Ashulia police station. In this incident, the university administration filed a sexual harassment case at the Ashulia police station on Monday.
Lamisha is continuing the sit-in program demanding the resignation of the proctorial team after accepting responsibility for yesterday’s incident and the attempted rape of a university student on May 12. In front of the proctor’s office this afternoon, it was seen that Lamisha had spread a bed on the balcony in front of proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam’s office. A pillow and some food are placed next to it. A few students including classmates are sitting with him.
Lamisha Zaman said, “I am staying here to demand the resignation of the proctorial team due to the incident of rape attempt and the incident that happened to me yesterday.” We will continue the sit-in program until the report of the attempted rape incident and the resignation of the proctorial team is confirmed.

Confirming the filing of the case, Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tariqul Islam said that the accused in the case has been arrested and sent to court.
Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JAKSU) leaders have blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway to protest against the arrest of the accused in the attempted rape of a student of Jahangirnagar University. They blocked two lanes of the Dhaka-Aricha highway for 15 minutes at 4:40 on Monday afternoon. At this time, a rally was held on the Aricha-bound lane of the Dhaka-Aricha highway, adjacent to the main gate of the university. Earlier, around 4.30 am, they took a protest march from Shahid Minar area of the university to Dhaka-Aricha highway.
Speakers in the rally said that incidents are happening one after the other in a safe campus like Jahangirnagar University. Six days have passed since the attempted rape of a student, but the accused has not been arrested so far. What can be more shameful than that. They immediately arrested the accused and demanded that the trial be confirmed.
Jaksur General Secretary Mazharul Islam alleged that even after 150 hours of harassment and attempted rape of the student, the accused has not been arrested till now although clear CCTV footage of the accused has been found, his picture has been found. He said, “First of all, it seems to us that it is the failure of the law enforcement agencies, the state forces, that they have not been able to arrest the accused so far; From this point our university administration has failed in keeping the security system secure. Secondly, the university authorities have failed to pressure the higher authorities to arrest the accused. Along with this, to obstruct this movement, this trial process, some teachers’ syndicates and some quarters of the campus are unjustly acting in various aggressive ways on the journalists, ordinary students and teachers of the university. They are not desirable in any way.
A group of students staged a protest and rally protesting the proctor’s rudeness and rude behavior in Jahangirnagar University over the attempted rape of a student. They are all from the Department of Environmental Science. Apart from this, the students of AFM Kamaluddin Hall made a human chain in protest against the same incident.
The students of that department took out a procession in front of the environmental science department of the university around one o’clock on Monday. The procession took a few roads and ended at the road adjacent to Shaheed Minar where they held a protest rally. On the other hand, around 2.30 pm, the students of that hall formed a human chain in front of the university’s AFM Kamaluddin Hall on the same issue. The students participating in both the programs also demanded the quick arrest and trial of the accused in the rape attempt of dragging a university student from the road in the dark on the night of May 12.
Nazneen Sultana, a student of the 51st batch of the Department of Environmental Science, said, “We want an answer to why the accused has not been arrested even after a few days of such an incident that happened in our campus a few days ago. Again, we strongly condemn and protest what a small self-interested group has been doing for a few days on this issue. Along with those who are trying to destabilize the campus, we want their justice.
