50 Scattered SSC Answer Scripts Recovered from Thakurgaon High School Playground

THAKURGAON, BANGLADESH — A bundle containing 50 answer scripts of the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations was recovered from a playground at Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School on Thursday evening. The official scripts were found scattered near the Shaheed Minar (Martyrs’ Monument) at the northeastern corner of the school’s prominent Bara Math (large playground).
According to eyewitnesses, a group of local youths hanging out in the school field during the evening hours noticed a bundle of papers lying abandoned on the ground. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that the documents were official answer scripts for the Bangladesh and Global Studies paper of the ongoing public examinations, which had taken place earlier on May 5. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the youths immediately notified the local police, who rushed to the scene to secure the documents.

Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School Headmaster and Center Secretary Motahar Ul Alam addressed the incident, explaining the standard operating protocol for public examination scripts. He noted that once an examination concludes, the scripts are compiled and sent directly to the education board, which subsequently redistributes them to registered examiners for evaluation. The specific scripts found on the playground had been handed over to a designated evaluator by the board earlier that day. The headmaster suspected that the bundle might have accidentally slipped from the teacher’s possession while they were returning home. However, he emphasized that the concerned teacher should have exercised far greater vigilance while carrying such sensitive public examination materials.
Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed that a police team responded to the alert, recovered the entire bundle from the field, and transported the materials to the station house. A meticulous inventory check confirmed that the bundle contained exactly 50 scripts of the Bangladesh and Global Studies examination. The documents have been placed under secure police custody for safekeeping pending further official instructions.

Expressing severe administrative concern over the security lapse, Thakurgaon Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Sardar Mostafa Shaheen stated that the relevant department has been formally instructed to launch a thorough investigation into how these high-stakes academic records ended up abandoned in an open public playground while under an evaluator’s custody, assuring that appropriate corrective actions will be taken based on the inquiry findings.
