13 people were sentenced to prison for drug consumption and gambling in Banshkhali

A mobile court has sentenced 13 people to various terms of imprisonment for drug consumption and gambling in Chittagong’s Banshkhali. They were sentenced to jail after they were arrested on Friday night in Shilkoop Union of the upazila. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) conducted the operation of the mobile court. According to upazila administration sources, a mobile court operation was conducted in Shilkup Union at night as part of a series of operations against drugs and gambling. At this time, 6 people were arrested while consuming drugs with the help of the police. Apart from this, 7 people were arrested while playing online gambling through mobile application. Later, 13 arrested people were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment by setting up a mobile court.
Those convicted for drug use are Md. Abdul Quader (42), Md. Abul Bashar (29), Nurul Amin (44), Md. Aziz (20), Md. Chhaber Ahmed (34) and Md. Alauddin (45). Among them, Quader, Aziz and Chhaber have been sentenced to three months and others to six months.
Md. has been sentenced to prison for gambling. Didarul Alam (22), Azgar Hossain (32), Sahab Uddin (30), Abdul Jabbar (55), Abdul Gafur (30), Manchurul Haque (40) and Md. Mozaffar Ahmed (42). Among them, Didarul was sentenced to six months, Azgar to three months and others to two months without labor.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) asked. Omar Sani Akon confirmed the imprisonment of 13 people for various terms. He said that a union-based operation is being conducted to free the upazila from the clutches of drugs and gambling. This trend will continue.
