The new organization Television Editors Council has been formed with the editors and news chiefs of the private television channels of the country. Chief editor of Banglavision in this newly formed council. Abdul Hai Siddique has been elected as the Convener and Syed Zubair Ahmed Babu, CEO of Time Television, has been elected as the Member Secretary.
Other members of the committee are – DBC News Editor Loton Ekram, 71 TV News Chief and COO Shafiq Ahmed, Baisakhi Television News Chief Ziaul Kabir Sumon, Independent Television Chief News Editor Mustafa Akmal, Channel Nine Executive Editor Md. Farhadul Islam Farid, Gazi TV News Chief Gausul Azam Bipu and Desh TV News Chief and Executive Officer Mohi Uddin.
It is said that the proposed constitution and objectives of the organization were presented in a meeting organized in a hotel in the capital. The convening committee was formed by consensus of the editorial leadership level journalists of television media participating in the meeting.
Speakers at the meeting said that a strong and responsible platform at the editorial level is the need of the hour in television journalism like in the newspaper sector. It is hoped that the Council of Television Editors will play an effective role in the professional excellence, independence, ethics and interests of the journalists of the country’s television journalism. Besides, through the organization, emphasis is also placed on professional training, research, exchange of views, increasing international communication and taking effective initiatives to prevent false and misleading information.
