Promising Musicians Life Cut Short

COLLETON COUNTY, South Carolina – Dylan Carter, a 24-year-old rising star from the 24th season of the popular reality singing competition “The Voice,” died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in South Carolina, cutting short the life of a promising musical talent.

Law enforcement officials reported that the fatal accident occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. local time on Locantree Highway in Colleton County. Carter, who was the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carter first garnered national attention during “The Voice” blind auditions in 2023, where his soulful rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You” prompted all four judges to turn their chairs. He subsequently chose country music icon Reba McEntire as his mentor.

A resident of St. George, South Carolina, Carter had shared with the judges during his audition that his powerful performance was a tribute to his late mother, who had passed away just a year prior.

Known for his deep passion for music from an early age, Carter quickly endeared himself to audiences. His untimely death has sent shockwaves through his fanbase and the broader music community.
